MANILA, Philippines — Manila Rep. Bienvenido Abante on Saturday challenged the four so-called “maleta boys,” or the alleged bagmen of former lawmaker Zaldy Co, to tell the truth and identify the persons who prepared the affidavits they have since retracted.

This came after the four “maleta boys” signed affidavits retracting their statements that accused President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr., his cousin, former House Speaker Martin Romualdez, and other government officials of receiving kickbacks from government flood control projects.

Abante, who represents Manila’s sixth district, said recantation was not enough, as they should also present evidence against those behind the accusations.
