Suspended Sub-Registrar Justin Manikandan Subramanian, one of the accused in the case pertaining to the fraudulent registration of Palani math land, was on Friday remanded in judicial custody till August 21.The CB-CID police on Thursday arrested Justin Manikandan Subramanian in Kodaikanal after the Madurai Bench of the Madras High Court dismissed his anticipatory bail petition on Wednesday. He was found hiding in a house in the hill station.Soon after his detention, he complained of chest pain and uneasiness, and was taken to Government Dindigul Medical College Hospital. Subsequently, he was admitted to the hospital, where Judicial Magistrate I, Dindigul, S. Packiaraj, visited him and remanded him in judicial custody.The police are on the lookout for another accused in the case, Jeyaprakash, said to be a document writer, whose anticipatory bail petition was also dismissed. The police conducted a search at the residence of Jeyaprakash at Oddanchatram, and questioned his family members on Thursday.Earlier on July 29, the CB-CID police arrested four accused in the case: D. Murugadass of Villupuram, who sold the land; K. Vellathurai of Tiruppur and D. Sethupathi of Palani, both buyers of the land; and S. Anwardeen of Palani, who reportedly facilitated the deal. The accused were apprehended under various sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) for cheating, forgery, abetment, and criminal conspiracy.Meanwhile, the Judicial Magistrate on Thursday dismissed the bail petitions filed by Murugadass, Sethupathi and Anwardeen. The Judicial Magistrate had granted the CB-CID the custody of Murugadass, Vellathurai, Sethupathi and Anwardeen till Friday.The Palani Adivaram police had registered a case in the fraudulent registration of the land.
