The CB-CID police on Thursday (August 6, 2026) arrested suspended Sub-Registrar Justin Manikandan Subramanian, one of the accused in the case pertaining to the fraudulent registration of Palani math land.The CB-CID police arrested him in Kodaikanal in Dindigul district a day after the Madurai Bench of the Madras High Court dismissed his anticipatory bail petition. He was found hiding in a house in Kodaikanal.The police are on the lookout for another accused in the case, Jeyaprakash. The court also dismissed the anticipatory bail petition filed by Jeyaprakash who is said to be a document writer. The police conducted a search at the residence of Jeyaprakash at Oddanchatram, and also questioned his family members.The court said granting anticipatory bail to the petitioners at this stage would hamper the investigation. Earlier, the court had dismissed the anticipatory bail petition of another accused, K. Vellathurai.On July 29, the CB-CID police arrested four accused in the case: D. Murugadass of Villupuram, who sold the land; K. Vellathurai of Tiruppur and D. Sethupathi of Palani, both buyers of the land; and S. Anwardeen of Palani, who reportedly facilitated the deal. The accused were apprehended under various sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) for cheating, forgery, abetment, and criminal conspiracy.On Wednesday, Judicial Magistrate I, Dindigul, S. Packiaraj, granted the CB-CID the custody of D. Murugadass, K. Vellathurai, D. Sethupathi and S. Anwardeen till Friday.The Palani Adivaram police had registered a case in the fraudulent registration of Palani math land. Subsequently, the case was transferred to the CB-CID.
