A man has been arrested at Athens airport for trying to board an international flight with knives and other bladed tools concealed in his hand luggage, police said Thursday.
There was no indication any terror-linked motive had been involved.
A police statement said the suspect, only identified as a 37-year-old foreign national, was arrested late Wednesday. It said four knives and two pairs of secateurs – scissor-like implements used to prune plants – were found in his bag during a routine luggage scan at pre-boarding security.
All six were confiscated. The statement said the suspect faced charges of breaking weapons laws.
