National Media Group Chairman Mzi Malunga. Committed to building a sustainable, commercially viable business, NMG is actively investing in newsrooms, creating jobs, and driving editorial excellence.

The newly launched National Media Group (NMG) has brushed off negative press coverage and media attention, declaring that it will not be distracted from its mission to build a modern, commercially viable, and sustainable media organisation in South Africa.

This comes in the wake of articles published by competing publications, including Daily Maverick, which NMG says attempted to undermine its launch through "speculation, innuendo and misinformation" rather than balanced, fact-based journalism.

In a statement released on Thursday, NMG made it clear that it has no intention of getting bogged down by industry rivalry or predetermined negative narratives. Instead, the organisation is focusing its energy on expanding media diversity, creating jobs, and delivering high-quality news to South Africans.

NMG strongly defended its legitimate commercial decisions and recruitment processes, stating that it owes no justification to competing media houses.
