Kornelia Ninova, leader of the "Nepokorna Bulgaria" party, has described the nomination of Rumen Radev for president in 2016 as the biggest political mistake of her career, accusing him of dismantling the Bulgarian Socialist Party (BSP) and failing to deliver on his promises.
Speaking to Bulgaria ON AIR, Ninova said Radev had "broken the BSP and destroyed the BSP," arguing that the consequences of his presidency have become increasingly apparent. According to her, Radev made promises to different groups during his political rise, but "the truth is now coming out very quickly," leaving many supporters disappointed.
Ninova also claimed there had been repeated cooperation between Radev and GERB, despite their public political differences. She pointed to appointments in both caretaker governments and the current regular cabinet as evidence of that relationship. According to her, former GERB officials have been appointed to key positions, including deputy finance ministers, the regional governor of Sofia, and advisers within the Ministry of Economy.
She stressed that she had never committed to forming a coalition with GERB and argued that Radev's political campaign had been "manipulative in every direction."
