"Revival" MP Angel Yanchev launched a strong attack against Prime Minister Rumen Radev and the ruling Progressive Bulgaria party, accusing them of abandoning key commitments made during the election campaign.
Speaking from the parliamentary tribune, Yanchev compared Radev’s alleged change of positions to the biblical story of the apostle Peter’s denial.
"After his denial, the evangelical Peter repents. The parliamentary Peter comes to the rostrum to explain why another denial was not actually a denial, but a fulfillment," Yanchev said.
According to the MP, the first of the government’s alleged reversals concerns promises to raise incomes and protect Bulgarian families. He argued that the minimum wage remains at €620, the second-year childcare allowance is €398, and the minimum pension stands at €347.
Yanchev also criticized the level of child benefits, saying they do not provide sufficient support for families. He said his party had proposed increasing the second-year maternity allowance to 70% of average insured income, but no less than the minimum wage, as well as introducing state support for every Bulgarian child without an income requirement.
