The HRANA news agency reported that a worker employed at the Ghal’eh Zari copper mine in Khusf County lost his life in a workplace accident on Monday morning, August 3, 2026.
Mehr News Agency identified the worker as 36-year-old Mehdi Zardost, a resident of Ghal’eh Zari village who was married and had two children.
Masoud Gholizadeh, the Governor of Khusf County, stated that the incident occurred at approximately 6:40 a.m. Expert teams were subsequently dispatched to the scene to investigate the cause and circumstances of the accident.
According to annual statistics compiled by the Statistics and Publication Centre of Human Rights Activists in Iran, at least 1,270 workers lost their lives in workplace accidents during the preceding year, ending in March 2026, while 8,264 others suffered occupational injuries.
