DUBAI: The Kuwaiti military said on Thursday that an Iranian strike north of the country hit a building belonging to a Chinese firm, killing a worker and causing significant damage to the structure.
“Competent authorities immediately began taking the necessary measures and dealing with the situation upon the occurrence of the incident, in coordination with the relevant authorities,” Maj. Gen. Saud Abdulaziz Al-Otaibi, spokesperson of the Defense Ministry, said in a statement.
Kuwait, including other Gulf states and Jordan, have been hit by Iranian attacks targeting American assets over the past few weeks, in retaliation for US military operations. US military assets in Kuwait’s Al-Adiri camp and Ali Al-Salem airbase were hit by the Iranians.
Al-Otaibi added that Kuwait’s armed forces were taking “measures to protect the sovereignty of the homeland, preserve its security and stability” and safeguard citizens and residents.
In Jordan, five missiles from Iran early on Thursday were intercepted by air defenses. There were no reported casualties during the interceptions, said a spokesperson for the Jordanian Armed Forces.
