Residents of Meenakshipuram, a village under the Mudikandam panchayat near Sivaganga comprising over 300 families, approached District Collector P. Akash to lodge a formal complaint over severe drinking water scarcity caused by low voltage electricity.According to the locals, the area relies on a single, overburdened transformer whose capacity has never been upgraded, resulting in dim lighting that hinders students from studying at night and weak ceiling fans that disrupt sleep. The persistent voltage drops also prevent borewell motors from functioning properly, cutting off regular drinking water supplies, and forcing many households to purchase water.Villagers explained that power outages frequently spike during night hours, leaving only a brief window of stable electricity when water pumps can occasionally be operated.
