Acting on a petition filed by the residents of Orivayal village, Ramanathapuram District Collector M. Sivaguru Prabhakaran, conducted an immediate on-site inspection in the village here on Tuesday to address a severe, ongoing drinking water crisis.The inspection was triggered by a series of petitions submitted by desperate villagers just a day prior, during the weekly public grievance redress day meeting on July 6.Recognising the gravity of the water scarcity, the Collector travelled to the village under the Kadaladi panchayat union to evaluate the situation firsthand.During his visit, Mr. Prabhakaran assessed the village’s infrastructure and noted that the local population relied entirely on the Cauvery combined drinking water scheme as their primary source of potable water.To address the demands of the community, he also inspected a newly constructed overhead water tank built under the expansion of the Cauvery scheme.To resolve the crisis without further delay, the Collector issued directives to the officials of the Tamil Nadu Water Supply and Drainage (TWAD) Board and the Kadaladi Block Development Officer.He ordered both departments to coordinate their efforts immediately and fast-track the distribution of drinking water through the new pipeline network.
