Students interested in renting a renovated flat in Athens will face significant hikes this year.

Depending on the area, there is a difference of up to 34% for a property in better condition compared to an unrenovated home in the same area. But there are also areas where the distance is clearly smaller and there may be opportunities for a more accessible solution, without a sacrifice in living conditions.

Based on data collected by Spitogatos.gr, using the electronic advertisements of apartments up to 60 square meters from the areas of high student demand, the areas of Gyzi and Pedion tou Areos stand out, where the rent on a renovated property goes for 28.3% higher than an apartment that has not been renovated. In the first case, the average asking rent is €10.6/sq.m. and in the second, the figure stood at €13.6/sq.m.
