Sale and rental asking rates in Attica continue to rise, with the northern suburbs holding the lead, although the housing market as a whole is showing a slowdown. These are the main conclusions from the second quarter of the year, based on the SPI price index data of Spitogatos.gr.

The areas that recorded the largest increases in the average asking rent are Ymittos with 21.3% and €10.6/sq.m., as well as Penteli, where the average asking rental price is €11/sq.m., having increased by 18.9% compared to the same period last year. Also, in Melissia, €10.9/sq.m is being asked for, marking an increase of 17.9%, while Neo Psychiko also recorded an annual increase of 15.1%, although the average price has reached €14.4/sq.m., which translates into amounts of more than €1,400 for renting 100 sq.m.

Overall in Attica, the region of Drapetsona registered the biggest increase with 29.1% in just 12 months, so the average asking rental price there is €10.5/sq.m.

Regarding the average asking price for sales, the biggest rise, of 30.2%, was observed in the area of Drosia, northern Athens, with the average price being €3,094/sq.m. Accordingly, an increase of 25.6% was noted in nearby Lykovrissi, with the average price approaching €4,000/sq.m. (€3,920/sq.m.).
