Two firearms, rifle and suspected explosives seized from vehicle during Mpumalanga police operation.
Four suspects have been arrested in Mpumalanga following separate crime prevention operations in Grootvlei and Verena that led to the recovery of illegal firearms, ammunition, explosives and suspected drugs.
The South African Police Service (SAPS) said the arrests were made on July 31 during proactive operations aimed at curbing violent crime.
In Grootvlei, police conducting routine patrols noticed a suspicious silver Toyota Avanza parked at a petrol station during the early hours of the morning.
Officers approached the occupants and, after obtaining permission to search the vehicle and suspects, recovered a rifle magazine containing 39 live rounds, eight rounds of 9mm ammunition and eight additional handgun rounds.
