CALAPAN CITY, Oriental Mindoro — Human rights group Karapatan Southern Tagalog on Friday (July 31) called on authorities to disclose the whereabouts of Mangyan-Buhid community organizer Binay Serrano, saying she has been missing from her family’s and lawyers’ view more than 36 hours after her arrest in Cabuyao, Laguna.

In a statement, Karapatan alleged that Serrano and fellow community organizer Cristina Pasion were arrested during a raid conducted by combined elements of the Philippine Army’s 203rd Infantry Brigade, 68th Infantry Battalion, and the Philippine National Police in Barangay Isidro, Cabuyao, at around 6 a.m. on July 30. Serrano was earlier identified as an alleged New People’s Army rebel.

The group said both women were undergoing medical treatment at the time of the operation.
