The EV will initially be available as the Life Launch Edition and Style Launch Edition, while the regular production models are scheduled to go on sale on 10 September. The model is available with two battery sizes, offering net capacities of 37 kWh and 52 kWh, and three power outputs of 116 PS, 135 PS and 211 PS. Depending on the version, the WLTP range reaches up to 281 miles (452 kilometres).
Launch editions are available with the 52 kWh battery and 211 PS, while a 37 kWh Life Launch Edition with 135 PS will be offered from existing stock only. Volkswagen says all 52 kWh variants with 211 PS qualify for the UK government’s £1,500 Electric Car Grant.
The series-production range includes Life and Style trim levels. Standard equipment on the Life model includes parking sensors, a rear-view camera, a 12.9-inch infotainment display, wireless smartphone charging, AppConnect and a height-adjustable boot floor. The Style trim adds IQ.LIGHT LED matrix headlights, illuminated Volkswagen logos and front light bar, ID.Light ambient lighting, 18-inch alloy wheels and sports comfort front seats.
The launch editions receive additional equipment. The Life Launch Edition features two-zone climate control, heated front seats and a heated multifunction steering wheel. The Style Launch Edition adds a panoramic glass roof, massage front seats, an Area View camera system, Travel Assist, Park Assist Pro and rear privacy glass.
