Former BOSA Gauteng MPL Ayanda Allie says the party levy dispute was not the reason she left, arguing it reflected deeper issues, while ActionSA’s Herman Mashaba addressed tithing expectations.

Former Build One South Africa (BOSA) Gauteng MPL Ayanda Allie says the dispute over the party’s 10% levy was not the reason she left the organisation, arguing that the issue was only a symptom of deeper problems.

Speaking during a media briefing on Friday after joining ActionSA, Allie said she did not want to revisit the circumstances that led to her departure from BOSA but felt it was important to respond to questions around the levy dispute.

"I wouldn't want to mar this glorious occasion by rehashing some of the circumstances that brought us to this place, but I do think that out of respect for the fourth estate it's important that I respond to the question," she said.

Allie said the levy issue had become a focus of the fallout, but was not the underlying cause.
