The National Prosecuting Authority (NPA) head has confirmed that the criminal charges against suspended National Police Commissioner Fannie Masemola are being reviewed, while Justice Minister Mmamoloko Kubayi moves to appoint an acting head to stabilise the troubled Investigating Directorate Against Corruption.
On Thursday, Kubayi and National Prosecuting Authority (NPA) head Advocate Andy Mothibi announced a six-month reset programme to address the failures and challenges within IDAC.
The programme, which follows weeks of intense scrutiny at the Madlanga Commission of Inquiry, will focus on auditing IDAC's cases, reviewing its human resources and assessing its financial management.
This comes after former IDAC head Advocate Andrea Johnson resigned last week amid mounting criticism of both the organisation and her leadership.
