The fraud case against Johannesburg Development Agency (JDA) chief executive Themba Mathibe was struck off the roll at the Alexandra Magistrate's Court.

The National Prosecuting Authority (NPA) said it was engaging with police to expedite outstanding investigations with a view to re-enroll the case of the Acting Chief Executive Officer of the Johannesburg Social Housing Company (JOSHCO), Themba Mathibe.

This comes after Mathibe's case was struck off the roll by the Alexandra Magistrate's Court on Tuesday.

Mathibe, who had been out on R50,000 bail since January, left the courthouse a free man.

Magistrate Renier Boshoff delivered a sharp rebuke to the NPA, refusing their request for further time to prepare their case against Mathibe.
