Slain Durban businessman Shailen Singh.
Nearly a year and a half after Durban businessman Shailen Singh was gunned down at 39 Meridian Park in Umhlanga, it was evident that those who work in the business park are still haunted by the events of December 29, 2024.
The lingering impact of the shooting became apparent on Thursday morning when the State, defence counsel representing brothers Ferrel and Darren Govender, police officials and Judge Mbuzeni Mathenjwa conducted an inspection in loco at the scene where Singh was murdered.
The State alleges the Govender brothers shot Singh dead because he was involved in an affair with Ferrel’s girlfriend, Salona Ramrutton/Kisten.
During the inspection, the legal teams, police officers and the judge examined the parking area where the shooting occurred. A member of the South African Police Service photographed the scene and took measurements. The inspection also extended to Meridian Drive, where CCTV cameras are positioned.
