Police at the Constantia property where the rooftop of a heritage cottage, pictured in the background, was removed.
The Richard Harris Family Trust, of the controversial property on Pagasvlei Farm in Constantia that recently fell into the centre of a public land dispute, said they's had ownership of the property for more than four decades.
The trust has refuted claims by two families who say they've lived there for the past three years.
Johannes Harmse of Harmse Kriel Attorneys, who spoke on behalf of their client, the Richard Harris Family Trust, have kicked back on claims by Subeiga Benjamin, the representative of two families, namely, the Matthews and Thebus families, who claim they have generational ties to the property since the 1800s and that their ancestors were buried at Spaanchemat Cemetry.
Earlier this month, human rights activists and political parties stood in support of Benjamin and her family, who were evicted by the owners, who requested that police remove them.
