Advocate Andrea Johnson announced that the recent arrest of Lieutenant-General Dumisani Khumalo, head of Crime Intelligence, and several other senior police officials was unnecessary.
It was unnecessary for the Independent Directorate Against Corruption (IDAC) to arrest the head of Crime Intelligence, Lieutenant-General Dumisani Khumalo, and other senior police officials in connection with Brigadier Dineo Mokwele's alleged irregular appointment.
During her final day of testimony at the Madlanga Commission of Inquiry on Wednesday, former IDAC head Advocate Andrea Johnson made a number of shocking concessions.
She also admitted abusing the legal process in securing an urgent warrant of arrest for the suspects.
Johnson had difficulty explaining to the commission her recommendation in a memo to the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) that warrants of arrest be issued urgently.
