Former IDAC head Advocate Andrea Johnson testified before the Madlanga Commission of Inquiry, where she faced questions related to the arrest of Crime Intelligence head Lieutenant-General Dumisani Khumalo and other senior police officials.
The Independent Directorate Against Corruption's (IDAC) arrest of Crime Intelligence head Lieutenant-General Dumisani Khumalo and other senior police officials linked to the alleged irregular appointment of Brigadier Dineo Mokwele was unnecessary.
This was one of the startling concessions made by former IDAC head Advocate Andrea Johnson during her last day of testimony at the Madlanga Commission of Inquiry on Wednesday.
She also admitted abusing the legal process in securing an urgent warrant of arrest for the suspects.
Johnson had difficulty explaining to the commission her recommendation in a memo to the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) that warrants of arrest be issued urgently.
