The Russian army attacked positions of Ukraine’s Defense Forces 71 times since the start of the day, with the greatest number of battles taking place in the Kostiantynivka, Pokrovsk, and Sloviansk directions.

The General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine reported this on Facebook, releasing operational information as of 16:00 on Wednesday, July 29, according to Ukrinform.

Russian troops shelled the border settlements of Korenok, Buniakyne, Tovstodubove, Potapivka, Ryzhivka, Neskuchne, Sopych, and Ulanove in the Sumy region with artillery. The enemy also carried out an airstrike on Sumy.

In the Northern Slobozhanshchyna and Kursk directions, no attempts by Russian forces to advance were recorded. However, the invaders launched one airstrike using one guided aerial bomb and carried out 36 shellings of Ukrainian positions and settlements, including four from multiple-launch rocket systems.

In the Southern Slobozhanshchyna direction, Russians attempted four times to break through the defense in the areas of Starytsia, Izbytske, and Khatnie; one engagement is still ongoing.
