With the 2026 Local Government Elections approaching, the IEC will outline preparations for the final voter registration weekend scheduled for 1 and 2 August, following 2.9 million registration transactions.

The Electoral Commission of South Africa (IEC) is set to provide an update on its readiness for the final national voter registration weekend, as eligible South Africans prepare for their last opportunity to register or update their details ahead of the 2026 Local Government Elections.

The Commission will brief the media on Wednesday as preparations continue for the registration weekend scheduled for 1 and 2 August 2026.

The final voter registration weekend will allow eligible South Africans to register to vote, verify their voter registration status and update their details, including residential addresses where necessary.

The IEC said the registration drive follows the first national voter registration weekend, during which the Commission processed about 2.9 million voter registration transactions.
