The Children’s Hospital “St. Anastasia” in Burgas has received official approval to begin medical activities, bringing the facility closer to opening its doors to patients.

The announcement was made by Burgas Mayor Dimitar Nikolov, who received the operating permit for the hospital. The news was also highlighted by Boyko Borisov, leader of GERB, who wrote on Facebook:

“The operating permit for the Children’s Hospital ‘St. Anastasia’ in Burgas is already in the hands of Mayor Dimitar Nikolov. When there is will, there is a way for results to happen. Promised – delivered!”

Borisov added that the hospital will have 140 beds and 16 departments and clinics, covering services ranging from prevention and diagnostics to the treatment of various childhood diseases. According to him, the facility will provide care for children from across Southeastern Bulgaria.

The hospital is located in Burgas’ Zornitsa residential complex and is designed as a multi-profile medical facility specializing in pediatric care. Construction began in early 2024 after the Municipality of Burgas and the European Investment Bank signed a co-financing agreement for the project in 2023.
