Former IDAC head Andrea Johnson was grilled at the Commission of Inquiry on Tuesday after admitting the unit may have acted outside its mandate in including the Political Killings Task Team in a summons.
Former head of the Independent Directorate Against Corruption (IDAC), Advocate Andrea Johnson has been accused of being "untruthful" in her testimony claiming she was unaware of issues surrounding the potential disbandment of the Political Killings Task Team (PKTT).
The accusation relates to her signing off an April 2025 summons to suspended SAPS Commissioner Fannie Masemola seeking information on promotions of PKTT commanders and other members, allegedly linked to irregular promotions.
During her testimony at the Madlanga Commission of Inquiry on Tuesday, Johnson said she would have known about controversy surrounding the PKTT if it had been in the media as she follows the news closely.
However, when presented with media reports from January to April on the matter, she conceded: "I do not dispute the information and I don't dispute I should have asked questions... I take it that, Chair, I signed it as I signed."
