Former head of the Investigating Directorate Against Corruption (IDAC) Advocate Andrea Johnson, denies investigations into the Political Killings Task Team.
Former Independent Directorate Against Corruption (IDAC) head Advocate Andrea Johnson faced tough questions at the Madlanga Commission of Inquiry on Tuesday, saying that the directorate had not investigated the Political Killings Task Team (PKTT) over alleged promotion irregularities.
This was despite her having signed a summons in April 2025, seeking information from suspended SAPS National Commissioner Fannie Masemola regarding the promotions of commanders and other members.
IDAC requires a section 27 affidavit before it could launch an investigation. MP Fadiel Adams submitted one to IDAC making several allegations, including that former Police Minister Bheki Cele unlawfully benefited from the Crime Intelligence Unit slush fund, but the affidavit mentioned neither the PKTT nor the alleged irregular promotions.
Co-commissioner Advocate Sandile Khumalo noted that Adams' section 27 affidavit should be the genesis of investigations IDAC was conducting, but the alleged PKTT issue was not part of Adams' complaint.
