The Department of Justice and Constitutional Development and the NPA have confirmed that the government is covering legal costs for former IDAC boss Andrea Johnson, who recently resigned from her position.
Despite her resignation as the head of the Investigating Directorate Against Corruption (IDAC), taxpayers continue to cover legal costs for Advocate Andrea Johnson, who is currently testifying at the Madlanga Commission of Inquiry.
The National Prosecuting Authority (NPA) and the Department of Justice and Constitutional Development have confirmed.
Johnson wrote a formal letter to President Cyril Ramaphosa and the National Director of Public Prosecutions (NDPP) Andy Mothibi over the weekend, requesting to vacate her office immediately and have her three-month notice period waived to prevent herself from becoming a “reputational risk” to both IDAC and the NPA.
This request followed a gruelling cross-examination at the Madlanga Commission.
