Jazz artist Don Laka will be among the artists who will feature at the Sipho Gumede Tribute Concert at the Bat Centre, Durban, next month.
The life and legacy of legendary South African jazz bassist and composer Sipho Gumede will once again be celebrated when leading musicians, family, friends and jazz enthusiasts gather for the annual Sipho Gumede Tribute Concert at the BAT Centre in Durban.
The concert will take place on Sunday, August 30, at 4pm in the Sipho Gumede Hall, with tickets available through Computicket at R200.
Widely regarded as one of South Africa's finest bass guitarists and musical visionaries, Gumede died in July 2004 after battling lung cancer. More than two decades later, his pioneering work with the acclaimed jazz fusion band Sakhile, together with his distinguished solo career, continues to inspire musicians across generations.
He was a well of timeless classics like Meeting Point, Faces and Places, Your Picture Still Hangs On My Wall, Please Don't Dance, Peacocks Today, Feather Dusters Tomorrow and many others.
