Eleven people have been shot dead in three separate incidents in and around Cape Town.

A 74-year-old mother had to be wheeled past her son’s dead body after they both sustained gunshot wounds in a wave of shootings that claimed the lives of 11 people in 24 hours.

Residents have been urged to come forward with any information regarding the shootings, as the police ramp up their efforts to curb the violence that is plaguing the streets.

The Manenberg woman, known by residents as Veronica, sustained a gunshot wound to her leg and her son and his friend were shot dead while standing in the yard in Pecos Walk.

According to residents, the trio is innocent and not involved in any gangsterism.
