MANILA, Philippines — The House of Representatives is ready to translate the priorities outlined by President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. in his fifth State of the Nation Address (SONA) into legislation and concrete action, Speaker Faustino “Bojie” G. Dy III said on Monday.
He said the president’s address provided Congress with a clear legislative direction as lawmakers begin work on the administration’s priority measures, including proposals to ease the tax burden on Filipinos and lower electricity costs.
“The Sona signified the administration’s direction. The role of the House is to make sure to give this the necessary support through an orderly, scrupulous, and timely discussion of bills,” Dy said in Filipino.
