MANILA, Philippines – As the House of Representatives went back to work on Monday, July 27, after a nearly two-month break, Speaker Bojie Dy expressed commitment to tackle President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.’s remaining priority measures.
“We will continue to work to push for reforms that will directly address the everyday problems of our countrymen,” Dy said ahead of the President’s State of the Nation Address in the afternoon.
Among the legislative priorities of the House in the coming year include the proposed Rice Industry and Consumer Empowerment Act, amendments to the Universal Health Care Act, CADENA Act, and Cybersecurity Act. Dy also vowed to push for the inclusion in the Legislative Executive Development Advisory Council a bill barring children 13 years old and younger from accessing social media.
The House passed 26 out of 52 pet bills in the first year of the 20th Congress, but only one was enacted due to the hold-up in the Senate.
