Samoan boxer Dee Iaopo was beaten by Wales' Daniel Pitt in the men's 80kg preliminary round at the Commonwealth Games in Glasgow on Saturday.

Pitt claimed a unanimous 5-0 points decision after three rounds, with all five judges scoring the contest in favour of the Welsh boxer.

Iaopo made a competitive start to the bout, with one judge awarding him the opening round. Pitt responded in the second round before finishing strongly in the third to secure victory.

The official scorecards were 29-27, 30-26, 29-27, 29-27 and 30-26 in Pitt's favour. Iaopo received a one-point warning in the final round, which was reflected in the judges' scores.

The bout was held at SEC Hall 5 during the evening session of the boxing programme.
