Samoan boxer Marion Faustino Ah Tong has booked his place in the quarterfinals of the Glasgow 2026 Commonwealth Games after defeating Tavita Kaoma of Kiribati in the round of 16 of the men's 70-kilogram competition on Monday, July 27.
Ah Tong secured victory after the referee stopped the contest (RSC) at the SEC Centre in Glasgow, ending the bout before the final bell.
The victory sends the Samoan into the quarterfinals, where he will meet Scotland's Sonny Kerr on Wednesday, July 29, with a place in the semifinals at stake.
Ah Tong is one of four boxers representing Samoa at the Games, alongside Danielle Domonique Holland, Dee Ioapo and Michael Seko.
The experienced boxer is making his second Commonwealth Games appearance after competing at Birmingham 2022. On that occasion, he reached the quarterfinals of the light middleweight division before his campaign ended in a referee stoppage defeat.
