Shanthie Naidoo Tweedie, a towering heroine of the South African liberation struggle, died on Thursday.
President Cyril Ramaphosa has expressed his sadness at the passing of liberation struggle stalwart Shantavothie “Shanthie” Naidoo Tweedie, who died at the age of 91.
Ramaphosa extended his profound condolences to Dominic Tweedie, the Naidoo family, as well as the friends and comrades of Shanthie Naidoo Tweedie.
She lived in exile in the United Kingdom between 1972 and 1991.
Ramaphosa said: “The passing of Shanthie Naidoo Tweedie causes us to revisit and pay tribute to the extraordinary contribution she made to our struggle for freedom.
