Jordan’s military shot down four Iranian missiles and six drones on July 23, marking the fourth such interception event in a single month. No casualties were reported, and no property was damaged.
The Jordan Armed Forces destroyed three of the four ballistic missiles in the air. The fourth came down in a remote, uninhabited area without causing harm. Six drones were also brought down. The intercepts were conducted entirely by Jordanian forces, with the government reiterating its position that it does not host U.S. military installations that could be considered Iranian targets.
A pattern, not an incident
July 2026 has not been a quiet month for Jordan’s airspace. The kingdom intercepted eight missiles on July 9, four more on July 13, and eight on July 16, before this latest round on July 23. That is a running total of well over two dozen Iranian missiles and drones intercepted in less than four weeks.
Jordan has consistently denied that U.S. bases on its territory are the intended targets. Iran has not publicly claimed responsibility for any specific strike in a way that would invite a formal international response.
