The High Court made an eviction ruling against people occupying Transnet land near the N1 and Woodstock.
Transnet National Ports Authority has welcomed a Western Cape High Court order directing 161 people to vacate Transnet-owned properties in the Culemborg precinct, saying the recovery of the land will support future port and freight logistics development.
The properties are situated between the Port of Cape Town and Woodstock and form part of TNPA’s strategic land holdings.
The High Court ordered the affected occupiers to vacate the properties by September 30, 2026. Should they fail to leave by the deadline, the Sheriff of the High Court may carry out the eviction, with assistance from the South African Police Service where necessary.
TNPA confirmed that the court had granted judgment in Transnet’s favour and issued an order relating to the unlawful occupation of its properties.
