TNPA has put out a request for proposal for an operator of the multipurpose container terminal at the port of Cape Town.

Transnet National Ports Authority (TNPA) said the Western Cape High Court judgment, granted in its favour for the eviction of unlawful occupants on its land in the Culemborg precinct, located between the Port of Cape Town and Woodstock, is expected to support current and future port-related developments.

The judgment was handed down last week, with the court ordering that all occupants must vacate the premises by September 30.

It is understood that 161 occupants, mainly undocumented foreign nationals, are living on the site.

According to ward councillor Ian McMahon, for many years, Woodstock and Salt River residents have associated the area with repeated reports of robberies, attacks on cyclists and motorists, cable theft, and vandalism.
