North West businessman Suliman Carrim
The Madlanga Commission has tightened controls around the testimony of North West businessman Suliman Carrim, issuing a directive that bars any public disclosure of his medical condition or details relating to his healthcare providers and treatment.
Chairperson Justice Mbuyiseli Madlanga made the ruling during proceedings examining the circumstances surrounding Carrim’s failure to appear before the commission last week.
The commission had been expecting Carrim’s testimony, but he did not attend, citing ill health.
His absence has since come under scrutiny after claims emerged that he was allegedly seen at a Western Cape shopping centre on the same day he was scheduled to testify.
