Someoddpilot started as a record label in 1999. Today, it is a thriving ad agency pumping out hits for brands.
The nine-person Chicago-based shop reported 20% revenue growth in 2025 and projects a 40% bump this year, earning it the title of Small Agency of the Year, Midwest, Gold at the 2026 Ad Age Small Agency Awards.
New clients include DSW, Ka’Chava, Campari America’s American Whiskey portfolio (Wild Turkey, Russell’s Reserve and American Honey), as well as Three Floyds Brewery, Ferris Mowers and Imperial Hats. It has also begun working for hometown sports teams the Chicago Bears and the Chicago Fire.
Legacy clients have turned to the agency to pursue new growth avenues. That includes Vermont-based sock brand Darn Tough, which is known for hiking socks but has prioritized running socks. Instead of leaning into the glory of running, as so many athletic brands do, Someoddpilot focused on the guts. Its “Made for Runners’ Highs and Lows” campaign highlighted the not-so-pretty, but relatable, moments that every runner knows well—like those unexpected bathroom breaks. It was a winner, beating impression goals by 200%, according to the agency.
