Saeideh Abtahi, the sister of documentary filmmaker and film editor Sepideh Abtahi, announced that her sister had been transferred to Qarchak Prison in Varamin, noting that several days after her arrest, no official charges had been communicated to her family or lawyer.
According to Saeideh Abtahi, the filmmaker briefly contacted her family, expressed deep concern over her transfer to Qarchak Prison, and requested that they follow up on her case.
Saeideh Abtahi added: “Her respiratory medication, some daily prescriptions, and her prescription glasses, which were collected from the family home following her first short call from the detention facility, have now reached her.”
She also confirmed that it had now been established that the Intelligence Organization of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) was the arresting authority. However, despite several days having passed since her detention, no formal charges had been disclosed to her attorney or family members.
Pointing to ongoing efforts, Saeideh Abtahi said that family, friends, colleagues, and several members of the Iranian Alliance of Motion Picture Guilds (Khaneh Cinema) were actively pursuing her case in the hope that her charges would soon be officially announced, paving the way for her release.
