Kimia Davoodi and Tara Davoodi, two sisters held in Evin Prison who were arrested during the January protests, have been sentenced to 10 and six years in prison, respectively, by the Tehran Revolutionary Court.
HRANA, the news agency of the Human Rights Activists News Agency in Iran, reported the news, noting that Branch 15 of the Tehran Revolutionary Court, presided over by Judge Abolghasem Salavati, sentenced Kimia Davoodi to 10 years in prison on charges including "communication with hostile groups and networks" and "assembly and collusion against national security."
Tara Davoodi was also sentenced to six years in prison on charges including "assembly and collusion against national security" and "propaganda against the regime."
The two sisters were arrested on January 14 during nationwide protests in Tehran and are currently being held in the women's ward of Evin Prison. Reports had previously been published detailing that the two sisters were subjected to violence and beatings by security forces during their arrest.
