Concurrently with the ongoing imprisonment of Fatemeh Sepehri, a political prisoner and one of the signatories of the letter demanding the resignation of Ali Khamenei, her family has warned of her deteriorating physical condition and the deprivation of proper medical treatment at Mashhad's Vakilabad Prison.
Asghar Sepehri, the brother of the political prisoner, wrote on the X platform that since her return to prison following open-heart surgery in October 2023, his sister's medical treatment process has effectively been under the control of prison authorities, leaving the family with no role in choosing doctors, procuring medication, or arranging medical transfers. According to him, the family was recently informed that certain vital cardiac medications for Fatemeh Sepehri are no longer accessible due to price increases and market shortages.
The follow-up on her other medical issues has also faced delays and a lack of coordination. Asghar Sepehri stated that after several nodules were detected in his sister's body, doctors prescribed tests and biopsies. Still, these procedures were carried out incompletely, and it has not yet been possible to review the results or proceed with the treatment plan.
