Archbishop Paul Richard Gallagher, the Holy See's Secretary for Relations with States and International Organizations and special envoy of Pope Leo XIV, visited the site of a Russian missile strike in Kyiv that destroyed residential buildings and claimed civilian lives.
According to Ukrinform, the State Emergency Service of Ukraine (SES) announced the visit on Facebook.
Representatives of the SES Main Directorate in Kyiv briefed the delegation on the work of Ukrainian rescue teams responding to the aftermath of Russian attacks.
The archbishop was informed about emergency rescue operations and the daily challenges faced by first responders, who continue to work under the constant threat of follow-up strikes.
The State Emergency Service expressed its sincere gratitude to the Holy See for its humanitarian assistance to the Ukrainian people, as well as for its solidarity and support during this difficult period.
