Three persons, including two information technology professionals, were arrested in separate incidents here on Saturday (July 18, 2026) for allegedly possessing ganja and narcotic tablets.Acting on a tip-off that ganja and narcotic tablets were being sold at Sriram Nagar near Periyasemur, a team from the Erode North police station conducted a search and intercepted two men. The accused were identified as Adarsh, 30, a native of Kerala, and Harish, 26, of Chinniyampalayam near Modakkurichi, both employed with companies in Bengaluru.Police said they seized 3.5 kg of ganja from Adarsh and 20 painkiller tablets, suspected to be narcotic drugs, from Harish. Two mobile phones, a laptop and ₹5,000 in cash were also seized. Both were arrested and remanded in judicial custody.In another incident, a team from the Karungalpalayam police station arrested Prabhu of Thirunagar Colony in Karungalpalayam during a patrol on Barrage Road in B.P. Agraharam. Police said they recovered 1.5 kg of ganja from a bag in his possession. The contraband was seized and Prabhu was arrested.
