Four persons were arrested and 8,100 painkiller tablets worth about ₹2.7 lakh were seized during a raid conducted by the Erode Town Police on Monday (June 1).According to the police, acting on a tip-off that the tablets were being stocked for illegal sale near a fish shop on Nachiappa Street, a team conducted a search and apprehended four suspects. The arrested were identified as K. Gowrishankar (22) of Thirunagar Colony, T. Vignesh (22) of Pallipalayam in Namakkal district, N. Mohamed Jameel (21) of Krishnampalayam and P. Deepak (24) of Kamala Nagar.The police said the tablets are a potent painkiller prescribed for post-surgical treatment. The police also seized a two-wheeler allegedly used by the accused. A case has been registered, and the accused were produced before a court, which remanded them.In a release, Superintendent of Police D.V.
