Samoa and Australia have reaffirmed their long-standing partnership, highlighting progress on a WST$20 million climate initiative and agreeing to deepen cooperation across security, governance, labour mobility and economic development.
The commitments were made during the biennial Australia-Samoa Senior Officials Talks held in Apia, where officials from both countries reviewed progress under the Australia-Samoa Bilateral Partnership Arrangement, Ole Fala Folasia I Lo Ta Va.
The talks also reaffirmed both governments' shared commitment to a peaceful, stable and prosperous Pacific region.
Officials welcomed progress on the WST$20 million bilateral climate partnership announced by Australian Foreign Minister Penny Wong in February 2026 and reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening disaster preparedness and emergency response.
For the first time, the talks included dedicated Economic Cooperation and Strategic Cooperation Dialogues, reflecting the expanding scope of the bilateral relationship.
