Two persons have been arrested in connection with an alleged hit-and-run that killed a Delhi Traffic Police head constable at the Singhu border in Outer North district, the police said on Thursday. The incident took place at around 6 p.m. on Wednesday when Head Constable Amit, 34, was placing a speed-monitoring device on the roadside during duty. According to the police, he was hit from behind by a speeding car. He sustained critical injuries and was taken to Satyawadi Raja Harish Chandra Hospital in Narela, where he was declared dead on arrival. A case was registered at Alipur police station under Sections 281 (rash or negligent driving) and 106(1) (causing death by negligence) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita. The driver fled the spot after the collision, following which the police launched a search. The police said multiple teams examined CCTV footage and other technical evidence to identify the vehicle.

On Thursday, the police arrested Kuldeep, alias Karan, and Neeraj, who were travelling in the car that allegedly hit the head constable. The vehicle has been seized. Published - July 17, 2026 12:00 am IST
