The death toll in the road accident caused by a speeding car on the Chennai-Bengaluru Highway near Poonamallee on Sunday (June 21, 2026) night has climbed to two, with a 25-year-old police constable succumbing to his injuries at a private hospital on Wednesday (June 24).A senior official from the Avadi police Commissionerate said following the death of an armed reserve constable, Tamilselvan, in the accident on Sunday night, his colleague Arun kumar, who, along with another personnel Saravanakumar, had been undergoing treatment at a hospital, died on Wednesday. The three police personnel were returning in a car after attending a wedding in Vellore on Sunday night. As they halted the vehicle by the roadside near an amusement park along the Chennai-Bengaluru National Highway, a luxury car on the highway veered out of control and rammed them.The Poonamallee Traffic Investigation police have arrested the driver of the luxury car.
